I have been collecting typewriters since I was a teenager. My first typewriter was given to me by my parents for Christmas. It was a Sears Tutor portable. I used it extensively throughout middle school and high school. I typed all my homework and term papers. Just before I started college, I purchased a brand new IBM Selectric I, 11" carriage in sandstone beige. I used that typewriter to supplement my income by operating a "letter shop" where I took in typing projects. I am glad to say, I paid for my Selectric I many times taking in typing jobs. I currently have a collection of several typewriters. The most recognizable typewriters in my collection are: 1. Royal FP (Elite), 2. Royal Empress (Pica), 3. Underwood Golden Touch (Pica). 4. Royal Safari with case and manual. I have seven IBM Typewriters, my original Selectric I, a Correcting Selectric II, a Correcting Selectric III, a IBM WheelWriter 30 Series II, a IBM ActionWriter 1, an IBM Personal Typewriter and an IBM Memory Typewriter 100. I tend to favor IBM typewriters as my collection indicates. I also have a collection of Brother Electronic Word Processors, a Super PowerNote PN-8500MDS, also, a WP-2200 system. I have started a local group named: Type_Style_Type_In on Meetup and will sponsor Type-Ins for other people interested in typewriters in my area.
