Description:
Very early 6X series Sterling...data base says 1973 but repair tag says Jan 2, 1971...makes me think it was a 1970 Xmas gift that did not work right.
Near pristine condition. Pica type. Types as well as my Galaxie 12 and Classic 12. Minus an erase board and a paper support however. Very basic but good machine. Interestingly it has metal ribbon posts which is unusual for a 6X series model. The ribbon gears however are nylon plastic.

Retired. Have been a Photography geek for many years...old school film. Also have been an audiophile and have been collecting vinyl before it became fashionable. Accidently(?) began collecting typewriters in the early1980's...I had four by 2006. After I inherited my mothers Hermes 3000 in 2017 my interest really took off and now I have 28 typewriters in total. The majority of my collection are Smith Corona's largely because they are plentiful, easy to work on and are very good typers.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Sterling on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Sterling By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
