Description:
This is a version or renamed from the Corsair 6Y series. The "Corsairs", seem to be much maligned by serious typerwriter enthusiasts but it is an ultra-portable and it is not for long term papers or a novel but ideal to type with on a trip or outdoors on a deck. It has the typical all plastic shell but its innards to me seem all metal...maybe later versions had more plastic. This unit was in pretty good shape and not very dirty. Two key bars needed some minor adjustment. Otherwise, it is better than I was led to believe and surprising on how good it feels typing. It has an elite typeface and compares favorably to my SCM Classic 12. One major complaint is that it is difficult to see what you had just typed because of the design of the card holder and vibrator. The line space lever is not very precise. The end of line guide is missing or wore off on the platen. It is about 8 1/2 lbs. which makes it my lightest acquisition. It is alleged to have lighter and softer metal and that it could get out of alignment easily. I guess I will find out. Love the design.

Retired. Have been a Photography geek for many years...old school film. Also have been an audiophile and have been collecting vinyl before it became fashionable. Accidently(?) began collecting typewriters in the early1980's...I had four by 2006. After I inherited my mothers Hermes 3000 in 2017 my interest really took off and now I have 28 typewriters in total. The majority of my collection are Smith Corona's largely because they are plentiful, easy to work on and are very good typers.
