196x Smith Corona Electra 120 Serial # 6L E123064 196x Smith Corona Electra 120 typewriter, Serial # 6L E123064 Randall Lyon's 196x Smith Corona Electra 120 typewriter. 2026-04-22 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Randall Lyon: 196x Smith Corona Electra 120 Serial # 6L E123064 This is my 10th typewriter! I am officially double digits. Fortunately, I shouldn't have to worry about getting into the triple digits...

early SMC Electra 120 bought in March of 2026 from a lady in Queensbury, NY. I don't know where it came from before that, but has a sticker from Glens Falls on it, which isn't far from Queensbury. Very dirty and a couple of missing/broken plastic parts and missing a base screw or two, but functioning. What was important to me was that it had the Artistic Script typeface.

It has since been cleaned, had the screws and belts replaced, and types well except for the double quote, which won't hit the paper hard enough unless the slap dial is set to 8 or higher. I guess I need to keep cleaning out that channel.

A few hours of disassembly and cleaning went a long way on this machine. It had rust in the same places as my Script Galaxie, but nothing crazy.

Back in working order and mostly clean. I hope to get the screws on the base panel replaced and pick up a couple of o rings for the motor.
