196X Singer T-65 Serial # D6MA-111430 196X Singer T-65 typewriter, Serial # D6MA-111430 Amanda Wood's 196X Singer T-65 typewriter. 2023-11-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Amanda Wood: 196X Singer T-65 Serial # D6MA-111430 This is effectively a Smith-Corona Super Sterling (or maybe a fraction of a step down) from late 60s-early 70s rebranded for Singer. Most Singer-labeled typewriters seem to be Royal rebrandings, but I'm a SCM person, so I was happy to see this one.
My sister teaches and has been looking for a "flashy" but sturdy typewriter for her students to use on their free time or occasional activities. When this little guy popped up on SGW, I knew she wouldn't care about the rebranding, but WOULD love the color. I won it for $7.99 and all in, it arrived for $25.03. It's a gem! Just needs some cleaning but everything functions in tip top shape. I'll get a new ribbon in once the cleaning is finished and get the Pica typeface sample loaded in then, too.

This thing polished up like a new penny. The backside is the worst for scrapes, but in general it's quite lovely. I've never bought a nicer machine right out of the shipping materials, and one of my cheapest buys overall. My sister's a lucky girl :P

Linked is a copy of the manual showing images of the machine to confirm model number. There are a few others on here mislabeled as a T-62 which was a Royal-made model. Admins may choose to label this a "Professional T-65" to help direct others who see the "Professional" branding on the paper tray, but I'll leave that to the pros to decide :)

Made its way to its new home with my sister for her classroom on 11/22/2023.

I am quite new to the typewriter world (first bought 6/2023), but I sort of jumped right in with three typewriters in my first week. I am interested in the mechanics of manual typewriters, as well as have an affinity for cleaning up long-forgotten gems. I'm a Smith-Corona fiend, but any nice typewriter will do!
