The Splendid 33 is a great little machine. A competent ultra-portable who can punch well above its weight and has left many owners more than satisfied. Maybe they had to pay more for this machine than others, but an Olympia is a secure bet. Second hand owners can consider themselves lucky as well. It is still a great typewriter, and proportionally more affordable because they don't skyrocket to the prices of other overrated, colourful portables.
But here performance is not the point. I have been given this typewriter by a neighbour. My hobby is well known in the area, and it is not the first time that someone pops up, typewriter in hand, and says: "Yo! This is for you! Enjoy!". I am immensely grateful to everyone who has donated typewriters to my collection / refuge, and I do my best to give them the best "life" possible. Thank you, Luis!
In this case, no repairs needed. No cleaning needed. No ribbon needed. This is one of the best looked after typewriters I've found in my village. Normally they have been used and abused, but this one has been very well treated as well as heavily used. I can only say good things about it, and a second Splendid 33 is always welcome to any typewriter enthusiast.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.
A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
