Description:
Italian-made for the Venezuelan market, this typewriter has currency symbols for bolivares (Bs) as well as dollars or pesos ($), and the necessary keys and diacritical marks for typing in Spanish. The type is elite and very well aligned, but the touch is heavy and somewhat spongy. One interesting note about the type is that the dot over the I is quite small, so that when an accent is put over the i, it doesn't look like an overstrike.
Characters that were sacrificed to make room for others include #, *, 1/4, @, and cents.

Resident of Portland, Oregon since 2015. Mostly interested in semi-portables of the '30s, '40s, and '50s (the late glass key top through late pre-electric eras), with a special interest in unusual or distinctive typefaces other than techno and script. Always learning!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 44 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 44 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
