Description:
Bought cheap recently here in Japan at auction, this is a 1960s-70s version of the original Japanese typewriter invented in 1915 by Kyota Sugimoto. Full of plastic and aluminum, the material is way lighter than its ancestor. I am told by Japanese colleagues here at the university that this version that I got was probably made in the late 1960s or early 1970s, especially with the ISO sticker at the back.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
