This typewriter had a big problem: the typebars did barely hit the platen. Working on this ABC was quite an interesting experience. On the one hand the machine is easy to disassemble and there is plenty of room to reach parts. On the other hand the build quality is somewhat fragile and there are a lot of adjustment points. These are a curse and a blessing. Adjustments need to be made in concert with each other, and it took a lot of trial and error to get everything right.
But once ready, this ABC budget model surprised me with its pleasant, super light typing action. One of the lightest I know of, in fact.
Good to know: because of the light action and the flimsy plastic body the machine does feel a bit like a toy.
