Description:
The Monpti typewriter was designed in 1968 by designer Stefan Lengyel. He was a famous industrial designer born in Budapest and based in Germany. Lengyel created the Monpti a year before the famous designer Ettore Sottsass designed the famous Olivetti Valentine typewriter, in 1969. The similarities between the two machines are remarkable. The Monpti was manufactured by the Zbrojovka Brno NP company, in Vyškov, Czechoslovakia. This company was known for manufacturing the Consul typewriter. The Monpti was marketed in the German department store Karstadt in 1971, two years after the Valentine. Its design is spectacular, with rounded shapes, never seen before in a typewriter. Made of plastic in an intense red color. The way it is stored in the briefcase is very curious, since it slides as if it were a drawer in a table. It has a keyboard with four rows and a double shift key.
