Description:
An interesting ad showing typewriters targeting the genealogy market. Images updated.
--------------------------------------
This typewriter led a charmed life as a case queen and oh what a case she has. She was dropped at some point on the left front corner. A little dent there and it pushed the key bezel out of place and jammed up the on/off switch. Just a minor attempt with a screw driver was made and fortunately they gave up and in the case she went. I imagine a trip to the typewriter shop that never happened. Then we can continue with the kids are cleaning out the closet 50 years later and off to Goodwill she goes.
Enter the sharp eyed typerwriter hunters who, with tools in hand and willing to make a gamble on what it is, and how it is going to get shipped. Score! A little bodywork with my mini heel and a block of wood. Then a very basic service and of course new belts..hmm.. O-rings and she is a super star again. Top of the line in 1969.
Note the large feet. Also, oversize paper bail rollers and release levers. It also feature a power backspace and power space button and half space button. See links.

As with many, the bug is back there somewhere due to an Underwood No. 5. My grandfather was on a small town school board and used one for this. My parents had a yellow Royal Safari that I used to index card everything, including a beer can collection. Collection syndrome clue! The long dormant tic was activated when my neighbors left a Remington Quiet Riter on the curb when they moved in circa 2010, Yes a believe it or not story is next, when a Hermes 3000 comes home with the girlfriend from work for free. Yes, free! From there the addiction is full steam. And yes, I now have a No. 5. Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose.
