1969 Sears Tutor Serial # S6YT107835 1969 Sears Tutor typewriter, Serial # S6YT107835 Elisa Makoon-Singh's 1969 Sears Tutor typewriter. 2025-05-20 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Elisa Makoon-Singh: 1969 Sears Tutor Serial # S6YT107835 She's pretty, she's portable, and she has a SPANISH keyboard layout.

This typewriter, with its ribbon cover design plus the shade of blue, evokes childhood memories of my favorite Disney Princess: Sleeping Beauty, and her blue dress. Or was it pink? Make it blue...

Sadly this cute thing arrived damaged after suffering a crack during shipment from Ohio. Oh how I wish I had just gone on a road trip to pick it up instead. The crack was not present in the listing photos. Live and learn.

It is so lightweight and pretty, I just wish mine typed a bit better... it needs TLC. Although there's tension in the draw band, the letters will pile on top of each other sometimes instead of the carriage ratcheting forward. Denny says the escapement and everything just needs a deep cleaning..... alas I have no idea how to disassemble it.

I love to write and found that writing on a typewriter is the most enjoyable and distraction-free way of doing it. I started with an Alphasmart, then moved to a Royalite, then to an Olympia SM5. The Olympia kept me fully satisfied for a good seven years until I got the bit by the collecting bug. Now I am slowly amassing my own personal typewriter museum. Typewriters are like personal printing presses. My partner is an engineer who can fix and clean any typewriter, so we make a great team.
