Description:
High-quality typewriter that proves superior to the SM3/4 thanks to its segment (basket) shift. This is one of the last SM9s manufactured with the old stylized Olympia logo, which looks far classier than the later block capitals OLYMPIA logo. Like all Olympias, the touch is a bit heavy, but if you're like me and don't mind that, it's a pleasure to type with. It's technically still a portable, but the weight (which isn't helped by the extended carriage) makes it feel more like a light standard than a true portable.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SM9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SM9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
