Description:
This second generation "boxy" machine, which many folks seem to find less aesthetically desirable than the venerated first edition with its Art Deco-inspired outer shell, nevertheless retains all of the features of the original - including the much loved buttery-smooth Hermes typing touch. While this 3000 sports the standard American QWERTY keyboard layout, it also includes a Spanish tilde/accent key, which does not advance the carriage when pressed. Rather, after the tilde key is depressed and released, it waits for the operator to type the corresponding character to be accented before advancing one space. A bonus for me is the Techno Pica typeface, which looks as clean and modern today as it did in 1969 when this machine rolled off Hermes' Swiss assembly line.

Lawyer and recently acknowledged typewriter addict. It all started with an IBM Personal Typewriter, followed by a Smith-Corona Galaxie Deluxe, an Adler Universal 20, and then, well, you know the rest.
