1969 Adler J5 Serial # 4149952 1969 Adler J5 typewriter, Serial # 4149952 Fumitaka Hayashi's 1969 Adler J5 typewriter. 2026-06-15 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Fumitaka Hayashi: 1969 Adler J5 Serial # 4149952 An Adler J5, built in 1969.

Came as an add on - I had gone to buy an Olympia SG3 for $40, but that somehow turned into 3 total typewriters for $20. It's like the joke about locking the car if you have a typewriter in it, because if you're not careful, you'll find 3 typewriters in your car...

I had been looking at these Adler J5s, as they look kind of cool. This one is missing the case, and needs new feet.

It has RaRo #7 Elite slugs. Aside from needing feet, it is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition.

Acquired from a man slowly liquidating his departed uncle's stockpile in Hazlet, NJ.

Relatively new to collecting. Would like to document my collection.

Planning on sticking to full-sized American machines so I don't spend too much on fancy European portables.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler J5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler J5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
