1968 Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet Serial # S 8501845 1968 Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet typewriter, Serial # S 8501845 Linda Au's 1968 Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet typewriter. 2022-08-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Linda Au: 1968 Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet Serial # S 8501845 I had to have this Royal Signet portable. It's an exact duplicate (color and model, etc.) of my very first typewriter, which I got when I was about 10. (My mother subsequently gave it away when I got married and left home. I should have taken it with me.)

I was happy to find one just like that first typewriter... on eBay for a song. Shipped beautifully, and it's my go-to portable right now for Type-Ins and other things.

Humorist. Novelist. Scapegoat.

I'm happy to own 17 typewriters currently. Two are models from my childhood: a Royal Signet portable (my first typewriter when I was about 10), and an Underwood TM-5 (used in 9th grade typing class circa 1975).

I used my IBM Selectric II to win NaNoWriMo every year till it mysteriously bit the dust early in 2020. I use my Selectric I a lot since it fits perfectly on my antique typewriter desk. Some of the manuals are currently being used to type letters to new penpals who are all interested in reviving snail-mail letter writing.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Serial Number page and the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Signet By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
