Description:
Found this beauty at a local thrift store for FIVE dollars. I seriously couldn't believe it when I found it because I had been wanting one of these for quite some time.
It is extremely futuristic looking with it's black and white color scheme and minimalist look. This typewriter really would not have been out of place in the movie 2001: A space odyssey.
It's very strange to type on however, the keys are nice and metallic feeling but SUPER sensitive so that any slip of the hand and you'll jam up the typewriter bars. The shift is completely manual and the space bar is manual also. There is also no power return on these machines. All this makes it a little weird to type on, fortunately the keycaps are really nice not only to look at but they really fit my fingers. With a bit more use I'm sure I could get used to it.

I am a mechanical engineering student with a fascination for antiques, I bought my first typewriter when I was in 6th or 7th grade. It was a very beat-up and dejected Remington Noiseless Model 7 and it only cost me 5$ since I was the only one at the auction interested in it. Since then I have sold it (and happen to know it is sitting in an antique shop) but my love for typewriters has never waned.
Since then my interests have spread to vintage computers and other electronics and I have obtained many interesting things. I now own 3 typewriters, but I am always looking for more and those sleek portables of the 1940's and 50's always catch my eye.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Apollo 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Serial Number page and the Royal (Silver-Seiko) Apollo 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
