Description:
From local antique mall. My wife spotted it fro $40. Looked to be pristine but nothing moved. Had to be a simple fix, I thought. Sure enough, I learned that over time, the lubricant used in these from the factory seizes over time. So after cleanout with mineral spirits, works like new! Great carriage lock mechanism activated by silver latch to the left of the 1 key. Really nice to type on.

My father brought with him a Hermes Rocket when he emigrated from the UK to Canada in 1967 and I remember playing with it as a kid. This memory was reignited while I was in Montreal for work this past February and came across a stationery shop that had five typewriters in the window. When I got home, I went on the hunt for my first typewriter - caught the bug and haven't stopped!
