1967 Royal Aristocrat Serial # A17220759 1967 Royal Aristocrat typewriter, Serial # A17220759 Geir Kihle Hanssen's 1967 Royal Aristocrat typewriter. 2022-06-19 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Geir Kihle Hanssen: 1967 Royal Aristocrat Serial # A17220759 A Royal Aristocrat of the Safari variant. History of this machine is unknown, but it was bought from an old man who lived in the west of Norway. It's interesting considering this machine has an American keyboard layout. It isn't uncommon to find American layout machines here. Norway did a _lot_ of shipping where sailors and what not would travel to the states. Many would use typewriters on board, and many would buy their machines while in America as it would be cheaper there. The fact that this machine has a Spencerian typeface throws me a bit off, because I don't think script-based typefaces were commonly used in business. This may have been a gift home at some point.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
