Description:
A beautiful example of a Studio 44 given a second life. The return lever had scuffed up the ribbon cover quite badly. the repairman I bought this machine from repaired the drooping return lever and gave the cover a partial repaint in bronze color; it’s reminiscent of the practice of kintsugi. It’s missing the left side plexiglass line guide, but that doesn’t cause any mechanical problems obviously. This machine has a standard QWERTY British English layout with an elite typeface and is now located Stateside. It came with it’s original case but nothing more. Made in Italy.
Original repair work done by Ian from TypewriterCellar. Some of pictures used are also his.

Reformed IT guy. I have a thing for manual portables, ultra portables, and any Olivetti machines. I also love fountain pens and all kinds of fine stationery!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 44 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 44 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
