1967 Majestic (SCM) 700 Serial # 6Y457967 1967 Majestic (SCM) 700 typewriter, Serial # 6Y457967 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1967 Majestic (SCM) 700 typewriter. 2019-03-20 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1967 Majestic (SCM) 700 Serial # 6Y457967 The Majestic 700 is a rebrand of Smith-Corona's Corsair model which was produced in the mid 1960's. This particular Majestic is of the 6Y series, which was produced from 1964 to 1967. Originally acquired from a local second-hand established, I found this typewriter in surprisingly good condition considering the relative economically based design, and flimsy build materials. These late Smith-Coronas are generally considered to be a far cry from it's predecessor, the Smith-Corona Skyriter. I personally do enjoy writing on this machine. I have owned numerous examples and none of them have significantly disappointed. Due to the high use of plastic, the typewriter has undergone some yellowing to it's keys and various levers and switches, but considering it's age, the typewriter has withheld the test of time very well. All the functions work, the type-alignment is proper, and it's overal aesthetic and mechanical definition do uphold the quality that one might expect with Smith-Corona.
