Description:
I like big TYPEWRITERS and I cannot lie. (riffing off Sir Mix-a-Lot)
This is the first Hermes in my collection and I doubt it will be the only.
The only thing missing is the carbon ribbon uptake reel but Denny will engineer a solution.
Before coming into my possession, it belonged to a library who had purchased it brand new. Then one day, the library decided to off load to the person who sold it to me.
When I brought this typewriter home after a long drive through beautiful Pennsylvania, I wondered "how did I get so lucky? Why did the Typewriter Distribution System choose this machine for me?" I still haven't sorted that out yet... this machine has me in complete awe.

I love to write and found that writing on a typewriter is the most enjoyable and distraction-free way of doing it. I started with an Alphasmart, then moved to a Royalite, then to an Olympia SM5. The Olympia kept me fully satisfied for a good seven years until I got the bit by the collecting bug. Now I am slowly amassing my own personal typewriter museum. Typewriters are like personal printing presses. My partner is an engineer who can fix and clean any typewriter, so we make a great team.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes Ambassador on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes Ambassador By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
