And of all the 3000 models, this is the weakest one, in my humble opinion (the later full plastic models are way more durable, in fact). Why in heavens did they need to make these side panels of plastic, and why did they suddenly seem to have forgotten how to make knobs that last virtually forever (check out my 2000s, the youngest of them is 75)? And who designed that ribbon cover, that makes the overall design look like they let the apprentice give it a try? It's as thick as a fifties truck's fender and just doesn't fit properly. Also, the body to footplate junction was badly deteriorated when they gave up the sturdy double-bolting used in the curvy 60ies models. All in all, it's still a 3000, and if handled very carefully and properly fitted, will do it's job.
