1967 Brother Webster XL-500 Serial # M7813632 1967 Brother Webster XL-500 typewriter, Serial # M7813632 Benjamin Esh's 1967 Brother Webster XL-500 typewriter. 2024-05-14 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Benjamin Esh: 1967 Brother Webster XL-500 Serial # M7813632 Brother Webster XL-500. When this typewriter arrived, it had escapement issues and the carriage would not catch on space or keystrokes. I cleaned the escapement mechanism and ever since, it's been working well.

This machine is similar to all the other Brother deluxe type machines. Although, this one comes with a Tabulation feature. These type machines are fun to write on definitely in my top 5 for general writing.

The vertical part originally wasn't latching because of build up from throughout the years. A couple drops of sewing machine oil cleared it up and it's working well again.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid. Born into an analog world, but grew up in a digital one.

My wife is a writer and I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining typewriters and she then gets to enjoy all of these machines!
