I picked up this machine for $30 from a lady in Beaverton, OR, to replace another Underwood 21 that I had used for parts for an Olivetti Studio 44. It had the wrong size ribbon spools, and the spool nuts didn't fit properly. The ribbon was chewed, so I think she just gave up on it. After cleaning the machine and loading fresh ribbon on vintage Olivetti spools, the machine types very well, better than my Studio 44. Also, very surprised to find that the typeface is Olivetti Cubic or Quadratto, elite. I'm delighted at my good fortune to have found this machine!

Retired industrial designer, now serving as a pastor. I have a collection of about 65 machines. I specialize in portables, and have only a few electric machines. In my opinion, typewriters and bicycles are the best examples of the man-machine interface. I live in SW Washington State, USA.
