Description:
Nice find from Australia, had escapement issues and required a spring to be place back around the escapement wheel onto the pawl, the machine works great and has some of the best feeling type action ever. The only issue with this typewriter is the tabulation, not sure how to get that working because right now i can't be bothered. Did a full refurbish, new drawband, full clean of type slugs, removed every key top and cleaned them, cleaned the paint, removed the carbon ribbon mechanism to clean internals and then got it back in so it will work, adjusted mainspring tension, re-attached loose springs and got rid of the mold (EW).
Wish the tabulation would just work but as it is now the Imperial 70 is one of the nicest machines ever made especially with the hammered finish mine has.

17 years old with a passion for the past, started repairing these back in September 2021 and scrounging for any typewriters i can here in Perth Western Australia. Love these old machines and plan on fixing them for future generations to use.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Imperial 70 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Imperial Serial Number page and the Imperial 70 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
