Description:
Found this one in an estate sale basement.
I bought it along with the typewriter table it was on and some ribbon supplies.
I really love the little ledge they provided here to set down your notes/paper to type from — so handy!
Found with it’s original cover too — it has a tear that I want to see if I can repair at all.
Seems the previous owner was using for personal reasons -- typing up greeting cards, notes, etc.
While on the other side of the room was a royal brand type writer used for business documentation.
This machine needs an overall cleaning so it’s not being used at the moment.

An artist based in Illinois with a love for typewriters.
My first manual typewriter got me obsessed with these resilient machines(Hermes 3000).
Leading me to save more from thrift-stores and estate sales. My goal is to learn the cleaning and repair trade to help re-home these bits of history.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
