Description:
This machine was given to me along with the Underwood De Luxe.
When I saw the case I thought it was like my other Sterling, but when I opened the case I was surprised and happy to see a completely different style Sterling.
Once home, I started to use it, and it is very nice to use. I can see some of the elements that were passed from this machine to the later, 'last generation,' Sterling. But I would say that this machine is far nicer to use.
The color is really nice too. It matches the name so well especially with the chrome accents.
This machine types with an Elite typeface.
The Underwood and the Smith Corona came with a couple of ads from just after WWII and circa 1951.
Left the collection on 10/22/2017.

I started collecting typewriters several years ago and it started with a late 1960s Smith-Corona Sterling portable that I got as a gift.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Sterling on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Sterling By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
