This cute thing was gifted to me by a neighbor who had only used it as display. The outside was in excellent condition, as was the tan leatherette case. The shift was slow when I first got it, but before I could sit down to attempt a repair, it seemed to repair itself! Apparently, being jostled by my typing and then being taken to the library for display and back again got it unstuck. Now it's a nice lightweight typer for type-ins and travel. And you have to love the robin's egg blue color.

I am a librarian, artist, writer, and co-author of the book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries (The History Press, 2023). If I'm working on a book or article for publication, I'm on a computer. However, I use my typewriters to create poems, type-doodles, art, and to write snail mail letters. I find the tactile nature of typing on a manual machine soothing and joyful. Each typewriter seems to have a soul and a story. Currently my collection is centered around midcentury models.
