The platen and the rest of the rubber is still soft. The keys still have texture. I am not sure how much it was used. It does have a scrape and missing paint on the left ribbon cover, but is otherwise beautiful. I have an SM5 and and SM9 in the same cream and teal color scheme, so I was happy to find this locally for a fair price. The case is also in excellent condition. I also have a 1957 Olympia SF, so it is interesting to see the differences. The Splendid does not have any soundproofing and is a little louder. I may add some felt to the ribbon cover and perhaps the body panels with rubber cement so it is removable later.
