Description:
This machine has a wide carriage, 13” platen, and it uses the PICA typeface with 10 character per inch. At present the A and Q type slugs seem to be misaligned such that their lower-right halves do not print. All other slugs look and type great. No other issues.

I learned to type on electric typewriters in middle school. Used computers through high school and college. Recently got back into typewriters of the manual and vintage variety because I find them easier to compose any sort of work on, especially when it comes time to edit. I own two Royals at present, and I hope to keep new and different finds moving in and out of my home so that I don’t get stuck with a collection of machines, but I do end up sending out fully functioning machines into the world.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SM9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SM9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
