Description:

A very common light blue Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter. About 4 million were built, and many are still around, usually in working order. This 1965 specimen is recognizable as first series by the single "Lettera 32" logo above the keyboard, the Olivetti mark on the paper rest and the "made in Italy" on rear. Later series can be distinguished by the different logo and the different design of some minimal parts, see last photos, but body and mechanics were basically the same. Starting with serial no. 6000001 the machine no longer carries the "made in Italy." Third series was made in Yugpslavija (serial number with suffix "C") and, later, in Mexico.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
