Description:
Purchased from Facebook Marketplace in August of 2025. The color is a nice coral, as opposed to fire engine red. I believe the official name for this color was "coral red." I only needed to clean it and replace the ribbon. It has the basic Royal typeface, Pica 10 cpi. This appears to be a 1964 based on the serial numbers I viewed in the database, but please correct me if I am wrong. The serial number can be found under the left side of the carriage. The color change lever is on the right side of the machine (it's fun to discover all the little design differences among models). It did not come with a case, but with this color, I doubt it would spend much time in a case anyway. "Nobody puts baby in the corner!"

I am a librarian, artist, writer, and co-author of the book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries (The History Press, 2023). If I'm working on a book or article for publication, I'm on a computer. However, I use my typewriters to create poems, type-doodles, art, and to write snail mail letters. I find the tactile nature of typing on a manual machine soothing and joyful. Each typewriter seems to have a soul and a story. Currently my collection is centered around midcentury models.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Parade on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Parade By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
