I said no more standards!!! Somebody asked what the "beluga whale" was when I posted a picture on FB. I think that about sums up the empress nicely. It's huge and bulbous, but in an MCM sort of way. The "S" in the serial number stands for special keyboard - this one has some lovely international symbols such as ç, ñ, ℓ, two dead accent keys (acute/grave and umlaut/circumflex) , and small square brackets,

I've been collecting typewriters since 2010. I currently have 100+ machines in my possession. A little over half of them reside in my "personal" collection, while the rest are machines I intend to clean up for sale, or are long-term restoration projects (I'm looking at you, Olivers and Foxes!).
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Empress on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Empress By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
