Description:
This heavy-duty typewriter (with such smooth keys) appears to have once been a property of the UNICEF office in the Philippines. It also appears to have been repainted in the past. Now it's showing poor preservation and overuse. Nevertheless she will be a beauty once cleaned and repaired.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 8 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 8 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
