A lovely neighbour gave me this typewriter because it was “broken” (seized, very dirty, with some disconnected linkages). Still a bit of cleaning and minor repairs left to do, but I got it working and it types like a dream!

I enjoy learning about typewriters, how they work, and how to care for them. I mainly use them for writing letters and journaling. I have a small collection of 10 or so manual typewriters, and most have a French-Canadian layout. It's nice when I don't have to manually add accents to letters afterwards (e.g., é, ê. ë, ç, ù, à, etc).
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Facit TP1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Facit Serial Number page and the Facit TP1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
