Description:
A Brother De Luxe. I've wanted one of these machines for awhile. A portable, metal, yet light weight typewriter that has a great feel and looks like a classic 50/60's sports car. I features a 1/! Key, a large carriage return arm, a 1 1/2 line option, duel color selectors, touch options and more.
When I bought it, the typewriter was in complete working order and needed only minimal cleaning. The keys did have a bit of yellowing and required some retro brighting.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid.
I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining mid century typewriters. Today, we generally stare at screens throughout the day, but I've found it's very therapeutic to turn off my phone and fix some mechanical machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother De Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother De Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
