Description:
"Ace"
I acquired this in January 2022. This particular Torpedo 18b is a deluxe due to it having the chrome on the endcaps of the carriage. It has a recovered platen by JJ Short, new feet by Septemis Clark and of course, a deep clean by Duane Jensen. It currently has an all-black nylon ribbon, which is eyelet/grommet free, from Ribbons Unlimited. I can install & use a bi-chrome ribbon, I just prefer a solid color. As with all Torpedo machines, this one is smooth as well and is a joy to use. It's lovely typeface is the cat's meow.

Just a "Typewriter Nut". I like collecting technologies from the past such as typewriters especially the ones with special/rare typefaces. There's just something about learning how things were made (& worked) back in the day!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Torpedo 18b on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Torpedo Serial Number page and the Torpedo 18b By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
