Description:
This happy little Classic 12 was my first machine, bought from a seller that was equally inexperienced with typewriters. It was listed for $50, but due to the line spacer being disengaged, I got it for $20 as it was "broken". You should have seen the look on my face when I popped the knob back into place and it started to work perfectly.
This machine is a sturdy workhorse and I could never go without it in my collection, and, dare I say, it is the best of all my machines, including the Olympia.

I'm a relatively new collector hunting for anything inexpensive that I can get my hands on, functionality being a second thought. I have to learn somehow, right!?
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
