Description:
There were a lot of Classic 12s produced by Smith-Corona, and many that have survived the decades since, so they're not rare by any means. And typing on a Smith-Corona is a lot like eating at McDonald's: it's familiar, consistent, and generally satisfying. But when you find one with a unique typeface, well, that typewriter is worth a second look in my book. This machine came with SCM's Basic Writing No. 67 typeface. At 6 CPI, it's perfect for typing on the the old style 8 1/2 x 14 legal paper.

Lawyer and recently acknowledged typewriter addict. It all started with an IBM Personal Typewriter, followed by a Smith-Corona Galaxie Deluxe, an Adler Universal 20, and then, well, you know the rest.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
