1963 Royal Companion Serial # C-5414228 1963 Royal Companion typewriter, Serial # C-5414228 King Corduroy's 1963 Royal Companion typewriter. 2018-09-11 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of King Corduroy: 1963 Royal Companion Serial # C-5414228 I bought this lovely typewriter on March 18 2014 for a mere 12$. I have long sought after one of these beauties and FINALLY I own one.
At first I thought the action of the keys was a bit mushy but it's grown on me and now I quite like the firm action of the keys, it's a very stark difference from the action of the Remingtons which are usually quick and snappy.
The case is all cast aluminum and I love the curvy sleek design of these late 50's early 60's portables.
If you don't have one, go buy one NOW.

Also I would like to mention that mine is a rebadged Royalite. It is identical to a normal Royalite in every way and even says Royalite on the users manual. I'm not sure exactly why they bothered offer it as a "Companion" but they did and this is one.

I am a mechanical engineering student with a fascination for antiques, I bought my first typewriter when I was in 6th or 7th grade. It was a very beat-up and dejected Remington Noiseless Model 7 and it only cost me 5$ since I was the only one at the auction interested in it. Since then I have sold it (and happen to know it is sitting in an antique shop) but my love for typewriters has never waned.
Since then my interests have spread to vintage computers and other electronics and I have obtained many interesting things. I now own 3 typewriters, but I am always looking for more and those sleek portables of the 1940's and 50's always catch my eye.
