Description:
My first machine. Given by my aunt who worked for the UK Inland Revenue service. I call this thing 'The old Imperial machine gun' on account of the machine gun like impact of the keys on the platen. It feels unlike anything else I own, clunky but solid. Has some unusual features as well. You have to disconnect the drawband before you can remove the carriage. It's a good machine but quirky.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Imperial 66 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Imperial Serial Number page and the Imperial 66 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
