A Hermes 3000.

I did not think I'd ever get one, as my original plan in collecting was to avoid the really popular European portables, as I felt the prices were a bit inflated. However, this typewriter came up in conversation with a member of my usual Magic: The Gathering draft group. Matt S. had bought this typewriter some time ago at a church rummage sale. He was not particularly into typewriters, but did some writing. He was likely the second owner, as he said that there were a lot of old people at his church. It turns out that he was going to be moving out to California, and was not particularly attached to this typewriter, so we agreed to a deal.

The typewriter itself is in pretty good shape. It was in pretty good working condition without any need for loosening up with mineral spirits. The only thing wrong is that one of the clear card holders is partly broken, but it does not affect function. The typeface is Standard Pica.

The case was a bit dirty, but cleaned up well. No manual, but it did have the packaging for correcting paper.

I think it's a fine example of a Hermes 3000.

Interesting fold-down paper holder. It seems to ding the paint at the bottom edge.

Bottom plate has some minor dings, but the feet are in fair condition.

Logo on the back is slightly worn.
