Description:
This was my third machine. I bought it at Charlottesville Office Machine Company from Ted Wood, the owner. Ted has worked there since 1956. This Hermes was immaculately restored and cleaned by him. It cost me $125 and given the state of the machine I would still call it a good deal. It was not my intent to buy a Hermes that day; I went in to the shop to have a Smith Corona Classic 10 which liked to skip looked at. Ted showed me it could be typed on without it skipping but offered the 3000 as a suitable machine for heavy writing. I knew of the excellent reputation the 3000 had and so I bought it. And that was the day another typewriter collector was born...
