1963 Alpina SK 24 Serial # 304899 1963 Alpina SK 24 typewriter, Serial # 304899 Mark Rosenzweig's 1963 Alpina SK 24 typewriter. 2022-12-05 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Mark Rosenzweig: 1963 Alpina SK 24 Serial # 304899 One of the last Alpinas, it contains a gold Senior decal between the Alpina nameplate and emblem. I haven't seen any other Alpinas with such a decal. When the machine is put in its case, the feet of the machine actually go through holes in the bottom of the case to serve as feet for the case; the carriage also is easily removed by moving two latches. Serial number 304899 indicates it was made in 1962 or 1963 after takeover of firm by a unit of ITT. All production ended in 1963.

I have collected typewriters since the early 1970s. My first collectible machine was a Mignon, but I also had everyday typers then, first a Voss ST-24 and an Olivetti Praxis 48, and then a Hermes 3000 and a Hermes 10. Over the last decade or so, I've turned my focus from early machines (Lambert, Blickensderfer, Hammond, Smith-Premier, etc.) to portables.

Besides typewriters, I also am avid about Studebakers, and have had a 1964 Studebaker GT Hawk since 1979.
