Description:
This early one is very different. The first thing I noticed was an unusual plug/hole in the bottom panel. Once apart, an entirely different escapement and linkage assembly to trip it is revealed. It is quite crude compared to what they used starting circa 1963.
In 1970 they reissue the Truetype as a 42 key budget model.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Western Auto (Brother) Wizard Truetype on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Western Auto (Brother) Serial Number page and the Western Auto (Brother) Wizard Truetype By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
