For capital letters, the shift key has to lift only the rubber roller, not the complete carriage

The Alpina SK24 rubber feet protrude throught the bottom of the case: no extra feet for the case.

the quirky part on the right is hanging from the screw and is free to turn under gravity.
 It has a notch just left of the screwhead. At each space command (from a type or the spacebar) it is kicked out of the way and it returns to its steady state position.  Its function is to prevent the main escapament  wheel to turn CCW when doing a carriage return.

As a retired product development engineer, I am fascinated by the design of electro-mechanical products in which parts move, make noise and, preferably, radiate a little heat. Most preferred are products that are operated by keys, like typewriters, accordeons and pianos.
