1961 Triumph Matura Super Serial # 1469940 1961 Triumph Matura Super typewriter, Serial # 1469940 Geir Kihle Hanssen's 1961 Triumph Matura Super typewriter. 2022-01-11 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Geir Kihle Hanssen: 1961 Triumph Matura Super Serial # 1469940 Got this Matura Super from a guy who had kept it in the attic of his parents for 30 years. He got it from a flea market or something similar when he was a kid, and it was stored ever since there. Finally, his father said now that he had he had his own home with a garage and what not, he had to take it back. He then figured it had to be sold, as it by now was absolutely gunked down by old oil and grime, as well as just collecting dust for 30 years. I suspect this thing may have been WD-40'd at some point. It took me close to 40 hours to restore it, but it works excellently now. The only problem is the feed rollers had completely deteriorated and I temporarily fixed it by builing it up using electric tape. As long as the paper is manually lured into the fold so both back and front feed rollers have contact with the paper, it works great. This is something I plan on fixing a better solution for.

I am a Norwegian fellow who enjoys tinkering and fixing up typewriters. One day I decided I wanted a typewriter to write letters on. I bought one that turned out not to work. I got annoyed and decided I should be able to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I did it, but the rush of successfully mending such an intricate machine was like a drug. I wanted more. I decided I would try to buy non-functioning, but pretty machines, fix them and sell them before repeating the process. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with the machines I fix so now I suddenly find myself a bit of a collector.
