Description:
This machine was a pleasure to restore, from what I'v seen, Tower just rebadged Smith Corona machines to make there sears typewriters witch isent a bad idea I guess mainly because Smith Corona is just a really good brand, cant go bad rebadging something that's already great. The Tower Citation and the Tower citation 88 are just rebadged Smith Corona 5 series machines with a cool new Sears body on it and to be honest, I kinda like the Sears specific body style. I have a 1971 Smith Corona Super Sterling, made 10 years after my Citation and I think they took a step back, the Citation types better in my opinion. O, my machine had this weird issue were the backspace mechanism was getting stuck underneath the shifting mechanism preventing the machine from shifting properly, im not proud of this but to fix it I ended up gluing a small piece of plastic to stop the backspace button from resting level with the rest of the keys witch for some reason fixed my issue. its such a strange issue, did anyone else struggle with this?

I have been collecting and restoring typewriter's for about 2 and a half years now, I collect and restore other antiques aswell but I mainly focus on typewriters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Tower Citation on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Tower Serial Number page and the Tower Citation By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
