Description:
From an antique store, in decent condition. This one has an odd label on the paper table "Electric V". Yes, it’s rather a high serial number among the ones in this database, but the fifth version?
This is my first one of these "first portable electrics" and I must say, it lives up to all the praise you guys have given it---smooth, strong, accurate, quiet...
Thanks. You made me not hesitate to pick it up.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Electric V on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Electric V By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
